Our mission is to provide our community with flexible, affordable quality childcare, while meeting the needs of children through providing an inclusive, nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment for them to grow and learn.
Our philosophy is the provide the highest quality of child care for children to learn through playing, in a safe and inclusive environment. Care will be focused around child-centered and developmentally appropriate play. Children are active co-constructors of their whole development and the environment we provide will be the safe foundation that encourages their natural exploration and discovery.
The Process with Timelines...
July 22, 2026 found the space, entered a verbal agreement with the landlord.
July 24, 2026 called and emailed the Town of Spirit River, was told to submit an application for a business license.
July 24, 2026 submitted an application to the province for a licensed daycare facility. This included a completed program plan with a floor plan, criminal record check, proof of incorporation as a non profit and a $200 application fee.
July 26, 2026 submitted and paid for business license application.
July 30th, 2026 spoke with the Town of Spirit River and was told I needed to submit an application for development and make payment in person.
August 4, 2026 connected with the fire chief regarding an inspection.
August 4, 2026 attended The Town of Spirit River to submit application for development and make payment, was informed not to pay for the permit until the application was reviewed. Application for Development was submitted for review.
August 5, 2026 connected with AHS regarding a site inspection.
August 10, 2026 the province outlined that we would need to submit evidence of applicable zoning, building code approvals, health inspection approval, fire inspection approval, liability insurance, a criminal record check for the second Director, completion of the new license holder information session, outdoor diagram in square meters and fee structure then the application would be complete and under final review.
August 11, 2026 submitted application and floor plan to AHS for proceeding with health inspection.
August 13, 2026 completed a fire & code inspection with the fire chief.
August 13, 2026 checked in at the Town of Spirit River regarding the business license and was told it would be refunded, as my application for development was still being reviewed and it could be a lengthy process so, they didn't want me to pay for something until it was approved. The property is currently zoned C1 and may need an application for re-zoning. Research indicates "Applying for a commercial space downtown means your daycare will be processed as a commercial or discretionary business use, not a public use."
August 13, 2026 submitted a request to attend the new license holder information session, as required.
